Pickle Time at Blackberry Hill Farms

Pickle Process at Blackberry Hill!

Pickle time is fast approaching at Blackberry HIll Farms!

Pickles at Blackberry Hill are made only one time a year. In the beginning of summer when the cucumbers are perfect for pickling Blackberry Hill stops all jam and jelly production, focusing on pickled products only.

Vegetables that cannot be grown on the farm are sourced as locally as possible. Some veThe Power Behind Blackberry Hillggies are cut completely by hand. Others are chopped up using a vegetable preparation unit (robot Coupe) that has been converted from electrical to horse power. All product batches at Blackberry Hill are small. This small-scale production is a big part of what gives these products that “just like grandma’s” flavor. Hamd Filling Jars at Blackberry Hill

All jars are packed by hand then sent through a hand cranked labeling machine fabricated by the Mazelins. Six jars at a time are placed on a small conveyor that feeds Blackberry Hill warehousethe jars past the labeling mechanism Those six are boxed up and six more are put on the conveyor. Over and over and over again.

All of these processes are repeated for thousands of cases of pickles!
